Amanda shares her Training

I’ve studied Tarot since 1991, including a comprehensive course at Evenstar School of Sacred Paths in St. Paul. Since then, I have continued studying Tarot on my own and in workshops. I have also studied psychic development and numerous other metaphysical subjects and healing modalities, including Reiki (2nd Degree), Shamanism, creative visualization, aromatherapy, the Kabbalah, dreamwork, Feng Shui, crystal healing, past life regression, the Chakra system, flower essences, transmediumship, herbalism, meditation, and psychic defense. My local teachers have included Loui Pieper, Kathleen Kalil, and Joan Mickelson. I have also attended seminars by various nationally recognized authors and teachers, including Echo Bodine, Mary Hayes Grieco, Shakti Gawain, and Rachel Pollack.

Philosophy of Tarot

I feel that the Tarot does not predict the future as an unchangeable certainty, but instead, makes indications based on the current energies around a situation. I believe in empowering my clients to be proactive in changing their lives, using the Tarot as a guide to where their true heart’s desires lie and how to achieve them. The Tarot is a wonderfully versatile tool for self-discovery; and for finding out what motivations and emotions lie beneath the surface of a situation, and what energies may come into play in the near future.

What to Expect in My Readings

Before each reading, I ask Spirit to allow me to connect with my client’s Higher Self and guides, in order that each person may receive the best, most accurate and helpful reading possible. In reading the cards, I use the traditional card meanings, the meanings I have developed for each card over the years, and my intuitive sense of the card at the moment of the reading. I also have a spirit guide, Sophie, who provides me with additional information during my readings. I encourage comments and questions during a reading. I abide by a written code of ethics in all interactions with clients. I currently read with two decks: The Universal Waite and The Gilded Tarot, as I find these consistently provide the most accurate readings for my clients. I use my intuition to guide me in choosing a spread. My two favorite spreads are my variation on the Celtic Cross for in-depth information about a specific subject or question, and a spread that gives a snapshot of several areas of the client’s life, along with an indication of what the future may hold in each area. Depending on the question and my client’s needs, I may decide to forgo a formal spread altogether, or I may formulate a custom spread on the spot.

In additional my more standard readings, I have had good results in connecting with loved ones who have passed on and are with us in spirit. I have found that I am also able to use the Tarot to communicate with our animal companions, whether they are still here with us or have crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

I was born and raised in Minnesota, and I currently reside in the Linden Hills neighborhood of Minneapolis with my husband, Marty, our ex-racing greyhound Travis, and assorted fish. My abilities include clairaudience, clairsentience, clairvoyance, psychometry, and transmediumship.

My Professional Code of Ethics

1. I will serve the best interests of my clients, conducting my professional activities without causing or intending to cause harm.

2. I will treat all my clients with equal respect, regardless of their origin, race, religion, gender, age, or sexual preference.

3. I will represent honestly my Tarot qualifications.

4. I will represent honestly to my client what Tarot can and cannot do for them.

5. I will keep confidential the names of clients and all information shared or discussed during readings, unless otherwise requested by the client or required by a court of law.

6. I will recommend clients consult a licensed professional for advice of a legal, financial, medical, or psychological nature that I am not qualified to provide.

7. I will respect my clients’ right to refuse or terminate their reading at any time, regardless of prior consent. I likewise reserve the right to decline to read for anyone, to decline to read on a particular topic, or to terminate a reading at any time.

8. Before each reading, I will ground myself, and I will make sure the reading area is cleared and reconsecrated to be a safe and sacred site.

9. I will truthfully relate my impressions of what the cards have to say. I will not use “canned” or rote responses.

10. I will not practice or encourage magic or spells of any kind.

11. My readings are based solely on the Tarot cards, my intuitive and psychic impressions, and information from my guides. I will not tailor my comments according to a client’s body language or responses to perform what are popularly termed “cold readings.” If I do receive any information from something told to me by my client, or from my client’s body language, I will honestly represent that this is where I received that particular information.

12. My fee will be stated up front, with no additional or hidden fees. I will not “upsell” my client to a lengthier reading. If my client wishes to increase the length of their reading, they may do so at the same fee, time permitting.

13. The minimum time requirement for a reading is generally ten minutes, because in my experience a reading shorter than ten minutes will not do justice to the client’s query. (An exception may be made for a return client who needs brief clarification of a prior reading.)

14. I will not encourage the client to become dependent on me.

15. I will not knowingly read for anyone under age 18 unless accompanied by an adult.
